The Cleethorpes Carnival will return again this year as part of the wonderful Armed Forces Day celebrations in Cleethorpes.

The Carnival, organised by the Armed Forces Major Events Team, will run on Friday 16 June, taking a similar route to last year – setting off from Grant Street Car Park in the resort at 6pm and finishing near Cromwell Road.

Lots of local community organisations will be taking part this year in the second year of the return of the Carnival, including local businesses, youth groups, dance groups, play groups, theatre schools and local bands.

Vehicles in the parade will include lorries, a traction engine, bikes and even skateboards. Grimsby Cars will be providing the cars for the parade and the Carnival princess.

Alex Baxter, Managing Director of the Armed Forces Major Events Team: “It’s great to see the rerun of the Carnival again this year. This is clearly the community element of the armed forces weekend – the number of community organisations taking part has increased following the success of last year, and there’s great local support, which we’d like to thank everyone for.

“Please do come along in support and say thank you to the men and women of our armed forces who do so much for us, both in defence of the nation and to support civil powers.”

For the duration of the parade, there will be a number of temporary road closures in place to make sure there’s safe passage through the resort for those taking part.

The closures will affect Grant Street, Station Road, Alexandra Road, High Cliff Road and Kings Road, as well as all roads leading on to that stretch. The temporary closures will be lifted as soon as practical and safe, but some roads are remaining closed for the duration of the weekend.

The Armed Forces weekend will take place over the weekend of 16-18 June in Cleethorpes.
